The struggling Cleveland Cavaliers are in town to play the Washington Wizards, which will likely be a fantastic game between two Eastern Conference contenders. LeBron James spoke to the media during his team's shoot around and discussed the history he has had with the Wizards as well as the Washington wings of Otto Porter Jr. and Kelly Oubre Jr. Here is what he had to say.
On Wizards-Cavs history:
“I don’t really get involved in the history of things, man. Not with me. I like to stay in the present, trying to figure out what I can do to be better today. I could sit here for a long time to talk about the rivalry I used to have with this team, this franchise but that’s years and years ago.”
On Otto Porter Jr. and Kelly Oubre Jr.:
“First of all, you can’t give Otto Porter no daylight these days. Last couple of years he has shot the ball extremely well, especially from the perimeter, which is ultimately creating a lot of opportunity and space for John [Wall]. Which is great for John. He [Porter] has worked on his game extremely well. He’s earned the big paycheck that he got. I worked out with Kelly this summer with John at times. It’s all about confidence for him. I think right now he’s getting the opportunity from the coach and he’s just trying to seize the opportunity and make the most of it.”
Here is what Oubre had to say about the chance to workout with James over the summer.
"Just the level of respect kind of grew," Oubre began. "He's a great for a reason. He takes his workouts very seriously and he takes getting better very seriously. And one thing he kept saying, when we were working out, was 'just get better in each moment' and that's one thing that has stuck with me my whole life or since that moment. Just get better each moment and obviously the game will repay you."
