On Sunday, the Washington Wizards put a beat down on the rebuilding Sacramento Kings and John Wall tied his career-high in three-point makes with five for the fifth time in his NBA tenure. Wall told reporters after the game that he put in some extra work after practice on Saturday to get out of his 4 of 21 shooting slump from deep to begin the season.
A combination of the Kings giving him space, which Paul Pierce advises if one does not want to be on the wrong side of Sports Center, and Wall maintaining his follow through form throughout the shot attempt allowed him to make his first five three-pointers. Even on his last attempt, a miss, Wall had the proper form and was a few inches away from an outright career-high. Wall has never shot better than 35.1 percent from beyond the arc in his seven-year pro career, but if he is able to have more nights like Sunday, 38 percent or higher is not out of the question.
