Wizards vs. Hawks Pregame: Let's Shake It Off

Hawks (37-33) at Wizards (42-28)

March 22, 2017 at 8:00PM Verizon Center | Washington, DC TV: CSN Mid-Atlantic Radio: 1500 AM

Last time they met was..

January 27, 2017 - Verizon Center, Washington, DC: Wizards 112, Hawks 86

What to watch:

  • Both teams are on losing streaks – the Wizards are on a 2 game skid while the Hawks have lost 4 straight. Who shakes off their losing streak first

  • How will the Wizards respond after a tough loss against Boston last Monday?

Key Matchup:

John Wall vs. Dennis Schroder

Ah yes, the battle of the point guards. This game features two of the league’s quickest point guards who provide a good balance of scoring and getting their teammates involved with John Wall averaging just under 23 points and 11 assists per game and Dennis Schroder at 18 points and 6 assists per game. Should be a good one between these two.

X-Factor:

The Hawks vs. Bradley Beal

We all know Bradley Beal can shoot – especially against Atlanta. Through the past 3 games against the Hawks, Beal scored 13, 28, and 15 points respectively. What makes him more effective is if he gets to the free-throw line. If Beal gets to the line at least 10 times like what he did the last time they met, the Wizards will be able to pull a victory. If we get more dunks like this one below, I wouldn't mind that either.

Fun Factor:

tfw when we start thinking about what seed the Wizards will be in the playoffs:

This is the moment where I feel that Wizards fans get to experience another version of March Madness. Scenarios start to fill our heads with thoughts such as “Will we stay in the 3 spot?” to “I mean we can deal with being the 4th spot, but then we have to play Cleveland in the second round.” There’s a good chance that Boston will stay at 2, but what we need to think about is making sure that the Wizards end the regular season on a good note in order to keep the winning mentality moving forward in the playoffs.

This little man's face shows how excited we are to even think about the playoffs:

Prediction:

With Millsap, Sefolosha, and Dunleavy all out, and with the Wizards coming off of a bad loss against Boston last Monday, there will be redemption as they come up with a victory over the Hawks, maintaining pace with Boston and remaining in the #3 seed.
